Description
Terroir :
This armagnac has been blended jointly by our teams and our partner’s master blenders. It is made up
mainly of Bas-Armagnac from 1966 blended with younger eaux-de-vie, which bring tension and freshness.
Bas-Armagnac is the northernmost region of the appellation. It takes its name from its lower altitude than
the other regions (60 to 120 metres above sea level, compared with 150 to 200 metres for Haut-Armagnac).
Straddling the Gers and Landes departments, its soil is composed of clayey sand with marine sediments.
The region is considered to produce the finest and most aromatic armagnac.
Elaboration :
The grapes are traditionally vinified to produce a dry white wine with a low alcohol content (9% vol.) and
high acidity, essential for the wine’s natural conservation. Chaptalisation and the addition of sulphur are
prohibited.
This base wine is distilled continuously in an Armagnac still. It comes out a brandy of 52 to 60% vol.
Distillation is completed no later than 31 March of the year following the harvest. This eau-de-vie is then
aged for several years in 400-litre oak barrels.
Tasting Notes :
Deep amber colour with a mahogany tinge.
The nose is fine and very pleasant, combining aromas of roasting (toast), orange peel and cinnamon with notes
of prune and tobacco.
Fresh, balanced and delicious on the palate, this armagnac is highly aromatic, remarkable for its elegance and
complexity.
