Description
This pristine 2020 White Horse 1oz gold coin is the ninth in the highly sought-after “Queen’s Beasts” series.
The White Horse is depicted rearing up over George I’s Royal Coat of Arms, distinguishing it as a Kentish horse, rather than the galloping German horse of Hanover. The emblem beneath is divided into four quarters, each representing a part of Britain (England & Scotland), France, Ireland, and Hanover (Brunswick, Lüneburg, and Hanover).
The Queen’s Beasts are ten statues that stood guard at the Queen’s Coronation, sculpted by James Woodford RA in 1953. They are currently housed at the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec, Canada, with stone replicas residing at Kew Gardens, London.
The coin is 24-carat (999.9 purity) and contains one ounce of gold. As with other British currency, this coin is exempt from Capital Gains Tax. Both the obverse and reverse are designed by the Royal Mint’s Jody Clark.
