Description
This exquisite 2019 Yale of Beaufort 1oz gold coin is the seventh in the esteemed “Queen’s Beasts” series.
The Yale of Beaufort is depicted in an imposing stance, holding a shield that features the arms of the Beaufort family. The Yale, a mythical creature known for its antelope-like body, lion’s tail, and swivelling horns, symbolises proud lineage and fierce protection.
The Queen’s Beasts are ten statues that stood guard at the Queen’s Coronation, sculpted by James Woodford RA in 1953. These statues are currently housed at the Canadian Museum of History in Quebec, Canada, with stone replicas residing at Kew Gardens, London.
This coin is 24-carat (999.9 purity) and contains one ounce of gold. As with other British currency, this coin is exempt from Capital Gains Tax. Both the obverse and reverse are masterfully designed by the Royal Mint’s Jody Clark.
