How to
Vendor Shipping

Home › Members Tools › Guides › How To Guides › Vendor Manage Shipping

This page contains your store-wide shipping settings, cost, and refund policy. You can enable/disable shipping for your products and override these shipping costs when creating or editing a product.

You can set up your shipping policies and your default shipping costs.

Shipping Policies

For Shipping Policies, you can select your standard processing time for an order and then write your shipping and refund policy.

Simple Shipping

You can then set up simple fixed-rate shipping costs, which can be overridden by product-specific shipping costs. To do this, click the ‘If you want to configure zone-wise shipping, then Click Here’ part.

Description of the options

  1. Enable shipping: This is the main option if you want to use shipping feature. If the seller does not select this option, shipping feature will not work for this store.
  2. Default shipping price: If you do not want to add the shipping price each time you create a product, then this feature comes really handy. This is will be the minimum price or base shipping price. And it will be used as a reference to calculate the shipping price.
  3. Per product additional price: If someone buys more than one product from your store, you will define the shipping price for the other product here. Like you sell bananas and oranges, so this one is not about if someone buys more than 1 banana; this price will be applicable if someone buys oranges with bananas.
  4. Per quantity additional price: If someone buys more than one unit of your product, then this option will be useful for you to determine. Like someone buys 2 or more banana, so this price will be added to every count after 1.
  5. Processing time: This has nothing to do with the calculation. It is just a simple way to display the time required before delivering the product.
  6. Shipping policy: This is a simple text area. You can write whatever you want.
  7. Refund policy: This is also a simple text area. You should write some instructions here about how to get a refund for your products.
  8. Ships from: You will select the base location the product ships from.
  9. Ship to: In this field, you will add the locations you want to ship to. After selecting one country, you will get the states on another dropdown.
  10. State: Name the state of the location you are shipping.
  11. Cost: This is the default cost for the particular country you select. That means, if the system can not find any state name that the user has entered, then this price will be calculated.
  12. Add location: By clicking this button, you can add more countries and location.

Advanced Shipping

To begin with, House of Assets will be trading only in the UK. HoA has set up three UK zones: Scotland Highlands & Islands, Northern Ireland, and the rest of the UK. If you want to charge different shipping prices for all three, you must set up all three. If you want to charge the same for the whole of the UK, then just set up ‘United Kingdom’. During checkout, the platform will take the customer’s address, and if their postcode does not fall within the first two Zones (or if you have not set up these zones), then it will default to the third zone.

You can select from three shipping methods for each zone: Flat Rate, Local Pickup, or Free Shipping. You can also combine these.

From here, a vendor can add shipping methods by clicking on Edit or Add Shipping Method.

A new page will open. From here, vendors can limit their customers’ zone locations and add new shipping methods.

To add shipping methods, vendors must click Add Shipping Method and select one from the drop-down.

In this way, vendors can add unlimited shipping methods. By hovering over the Shipping Method, vendors can edit and delete. The toggle button can be used to enable/disable a shipping method.

Vendors can also limit zone location using postcodes that apply to customers purchasing from that zone.

If you click Edit on your Shipping Method, you can then setup:

Flat Rates

Each Shipping Zone can have different (and multiple) Flat Rates if you wish.

  • To make changes to a shipping method, vendor needs to click Edit.
  • Vendor can change the Title if he wants to or keep it as default. This title displays to customers in checkout.
  • Next he has to add the Cost (this is applied to the entire cart).
  • Select its Tax Status (define whether or not tax is applied to the shipping amount).
  • You can also type a Description for this method if you prefer.
  • Click on Save Settings.
Shipping Classes – Vendor Settings

Shipping classes won’t apply unless the vendor specifies from Edit Product.

The Admin needs to first create the shipping class (as shown above) before the vendor can access them from his dashboard.

The vendor can specify shipping class costs for all the shipping classes that admins have created. Vendors will be able to access these classes for the Flat Rate method only.

The vendor can specify their own conditional rates for the shipping classes.

Then select the cost when no shipping class will apply.

You can also select the Calculation Type:

  • Per Class: Shipping rates will apply accordingly class-wise.
  • Per Order: Shipping rates will apply on the total order cost, and the most expensive shipping class rate will apply.
Local Pickup

In Local Pickup, customers can pick up the order themselves from a designated location.

1. To make changes, hover over the shipping method and click Edit.

2. Enter a Title that displays to customers at checkout – some shops change the title to Local Delivery, for example.

3. Enter Cost â€“ The cost for the option is applied to the entire cart.

4. Select Tax Status. Then click on Save Changes.

Free Shipping

Free shipping is a great way to encourage customers to spend more. For example, offer free shipping on orders over $100.

1. Enter a Title that displays to customers at checkout.

2. Enter a Minimum Order Amount (if applicable).

3. Click on Save Changes.

Table Rate Shipping

Using the Table Rate Shipping module, vendors can create complex rules for shipping products globally. Vendors can define multiple rates based on the product’s destination, have multiple rates per zone, and add rules based on product weight, the number of items, shipping class, and price.

Learn more here.

Distance Rates

Vendors can now calculate the shipping based on the distance using the Distance rate shipping feature. The cost will be calculated based on the distance from the vendor shipping location to the customer’s location.

Rules can be set up to charge shipping based on the distance and total travel time, or the number of items in the cart, the weight of the items, or the total value of the cart.

Override Default Shipping Prices for each product

You can override default shipping prices if you want. The shipping costs are applied when you do not add any shipping cost to your product. But sometimes, you might need to override shipping costs depending on your product. So, for this reason, we have included a shipping override feature in products. To use this feature,

For existing products â€“ you have to navigate to your product edit screen, which is yoursite.com → Dashboard → Products → Edit and navigate to the shipping section.

And for newly created products â€“ The next screen after adding the basic details of a product navigate to the shipping section.

Now, you have to click on the checkbox override shipping and you will have the option to add the additional shipping cost for that product. You can place a positive or negative value according to your needs. Like if your products base shipping price is less than the global price, you can place a minus value.
